So guys, a few weeks ago then, I was out and about on another wedding “double header” weekend, and it kicked off with a trip into Glasgow’s Merchant City, to shoot Diya & Paul’s big day at the very unique venue that is Arta, where I’ve been a few times now.
Now, I absolutely love shooting in places like this, so so different from most of the usual wedding venues but, it certainly doesn’t come without challenges. It is dark, which in many ways is its charm as it provides the perfect ambience for an intimate wedding such as we had this very day. And, “conquering” the darkness is a tricky balancing act – don’t use flash and the images are too grainy; use too much flash and you lose the ambience. I think I got it about right – my fourteen years shooting weddings certainly helped!
Come the day itself, I adopted my usual low-key candid approach, stopping only for a few group shots in front of the fireplace before heading out for a short couple shoot around the Merchant City before dinner. And, of course, we just had to make use of the venue’s stunning courtyard and floral walls too – would have been criminal not to!
Diya & Paul, thank you very much for choosing me to shoot your fabulous wedding day! Here’s a few of my own favourite shots which I hope you all like.
Please feel free to leave a comment if you like … it’s very much appreciated 🙂 – there’s a comment box right at the end of the pics!

Like what you see … want to book me?
If you’re getting married (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” (a couple’s words, not mine) low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!
My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short couple shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast!
For the past two years, I’ve been recognised by the WPJA as Scotland’s top ranked wedding photojournalist, so you know you’re in safe hands :-).
I’m mainly taking bookings now for 2025 & 2026 but do still have some limited availability for this year too … but I do now only shoot one wedding per weekend so dates can be very limited during peak times. So do get in touch asap guys to check my availability.
